I answered "yes" to criminal history for reckless driving
Hello, I just filled out my application to take the examination for PN and I'm freaking out. Under criminal history I answered "yes" to the question "Have you ever been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty, nolo contendere, or no contest to, a crime in any jurisdiction other than a minor traffic offense?" October 2008 I was driving to school. The road I was traveling merges into one lane. The car behind me speed up at the very last moment and cut in front of me. I had to slam on my breaks and naturally I honked my horn. This person mind you in a beat up blue car keep break checking me then came to a complete stop in the middle of the road, so I passed them. Then proceeded on my way to class. This person started riding my tail so I pulled over to let them pass. I just wanted this to dissolve. This was a time where there were cop impersonators all over the news. Long story short it was an officer on the way to work. I got a ticket for reckless driving with no explanation. I went down and got his statement. Everything was completely turned around. It makes me upset after all these use thinking about it. I got a lawyer, had it expunged. The judge told my lawyer that many incidences such as mine came up with this particular officer. I did some research and the same officer "resigned" because of suspicious falsifying documents/ illegal entry. I didn't know if I answered the question right but I didn't want to look like I was hiding anything. I only have the expunged papers for documentation and I don't even know how to go about the self explanation.. Help! This event has already traumatized me , I don't want it to get in the way of something I love doing.

Nursing program wants students to schedule own clinical day because they messed up
This isn't the first time this program has done something like this. Majority of the students attending the program are disappointed of how unstructured it is. I have called my GP and other facilities they all state that the school has to have a contract with them for clinicals. The nurse manager is the one supporting this. I hope this resolves and I'm counting down the days until I graduate. In the meanwhile I will be contacting the board of nursing to find other solutions.

Nursing program wants students to schedule own clinical day because they messed up
Hello, Today our instructor just informed us that on October 10 or 11th that we have to find our own clinical site to make up 8 clinical hours. This is because the Nurse manager failed to correctly map out required time for clinical. October 10th/11th are days students have off. Our teacher originally had us staying later at the hospitals to make up this time. However, they refuse to pay over time. Most places have contracts with nursing schools for clinicals . Most places also require a background check in healthcare to even volunteer. There are liability and privacy issues. I might not even be able to make up this time if a place wont accept a nursing student. I feel that if the school messed up than they should find a way to incorporate this time back into our schedule or find a clinical site for us.

State College of Florida
Hello, I went to SCF and finished all my pre-req's and general education classes by 2010. I think I have a 3.3 in pre-req's and overall 3.7 GPA. I applied for the nursing program 3 consecutive times and did not get accepted. I went to the learning specialist at Venice who is in charge of information sessions and testing for nursing program. I asked what is the GPA pool for applicants accepted. She would not answer me directly but stated that I better make sure I get A's in ALL classes. I then went to Sarasota campus to speak with guidance. She was very helpful and told me straight that everyone who gets accepted has 4.0 and that only 12 applicants applied for LPN bridge and got right in. She said that everyone who applies for bridge gets in usually. This was at the end of 2011. SCF has recently changed standards for CNA certification. I would imagine that it is still competitive and they would probably pick the person with CNA over one that does not have certification for entrance into program. I applied for the LPN program at CTC at the end of 2011 and did not get accepted the first time due to over 200 applicants. I got in the second time. I'm 5 months in the program. They extended the time for next application because they did not have enough applicants to fill program. If I were you I would cover all grounds and apply for RN program and any LPN programs with or without CNA. My LPN program had healthcare worker and nursing assistant at beginning of 6 weeks if you passed that, you were eligible(over 120hours) to take CNA. So far everyone that graduates LPN has gotten in bridge program 1st try according to my instructors.

CNA Instuctor wants students to bath each other before real clinicals
I only hope you have a different attitude when it comes to taking care of a person who has the same issue I have.

I agree. They also have every right to fail us if we refuse such a thing. I got it figured out. She has been demanding a lot of things that the nurse manager does not allow.

CNA Instuctor wants students to bath each other before real clinicals
We originally were required to take our top off. I went to the Nursing Manager at the school and he said she has no authority to ask that of us. Lucky you! I wish they would of let us know when we were being registered just how well we would get to know our classmates.

Her original intent was to do a full partial bath which did include that. I spoke with the nurse manager and he said she has no authority to ask that of us.

CNA Instuctor wants students to bath each other before real clinicals
Hello, and HELP! I understand that it is good for students to practice clinical skills on each other before going to real clinicals and taking care of real people. However, my teacher wants opposite sex students to do a partial bath on each other. This includes washing from the face to the waist. I do not feel comfortable being bathed by the opposite sex and I explained my reasons to her. She basically laughed in my face and told me to get over it. She also said that if we couldn't deal with it she would fail us. I don't mind bathing anyone. I will practice the skill on any other student.I just don't feel comfortable being bathed by the opposite sex. As a patient, resident and client they all have rights to deny care from the opposite sex. Does my teacher have the right to override my rights and what can I do about it. I want to pass this class without going against my comfort zone.
