HELP!

I AM GOING TO RN TEST FOR NY COULD I WORK IN CT? IS EACH STATE DIFFERENT?

THANKS

Registered Nurses all take the same test: the NCLEX. It is the same test no matter where you take it (it changes periodically).

If you "take" NCLEX in NY, but are going to be working in CT, you would want to apply for the CT license. You can take the NCLEX anywhere you want (as long as you send the correct paywork to the state in which you will be taking the test. The paperwork is different state to state). Also, each state "requires" different paperwork for "their" license.

Once you get a RN license, you can apply to get another states license by reciprocity. Then there are the compact states..........Oh, too much info for you basic question!!!:p

Good Luck to you!

(PS - you only need to take the NCLEX and pass once! Never again after passing!!!!:chuckle )

Thanks a lot. Never too much info.

IS The same true ffor LPN's?

Specializes in Geriatrics.

LPNS also take the NCLEX. The license is good anywhere in the usa, but you need to pay a small fee and fill out paper work to make it good in any state you will be working. I only know this because an LPN at my work is currently getting ready to move to VA and she filled out paperwork and paid a fee.
