Starting STLCC's nursing program! Any advice???

Published

Hi! So, after a long wait list, i finally got into STLCC's nursing program! Meramec and Forest Park at the same time! I will be starting in Jan and i'm VERY nervous. I've never been a straight A student and i'm worried i won't make it. I've heard that A LOT of the students don't make it through the program. I'm lucky in the sense that i have financial support from my parents so 100% of my time and attention will go towards the nursing program. Which program is better? Any advice from nursing students currently in the program? Thank you!

Congrats and best of luck to both of you! I have to ask how long where you on the list? I applied to Meramec this July. Heard two years is about how long I should expect. When did you apply?

i applied in May 2010 to all 3 campuses and i got into Flo this fall. I wave my acceptance because I didn't have A&P finished. I got a letter from Forest Park and Meramec about a month ago.

Hi Stlccstudent, how is the nursing program going in FP?? I was just got my letter as well from FP but I really want to go to Meramec since its way closer to where I live but my question is do I really want to wait another semester? Anyways I hope you doing great! By the way any of you guys know, my dosage calculation expires this coming September so if I wait to go to Meramec on the spring of 2013, does that mean I have to retake the dosage test?? Anyhow good luck out there for everyone that is working on their program! =D

Inkarupay, I am starting at Meramac this Fall and I had to retake my dosage calc test before I start in Aug. So if your test expires in Sept they will make you retake it. I actually scored a 100% the second time around, I didn't even do that the first time. So don't sweat it. Also I would not worry about starting a semester late, it will give you an opportunity to get everything done before you start the program. I was excepted for this Spring but missed my letter. I was actually ok with it after I went to orientation and found out everything that you have to get done--background checks, drug testing, vaccinations, titers, paperwork, ect. It has been a blessing to have this summer to catch up on all that. But then again, if you start right away you will get done faster. But whatever route you choose, good luck to you!
