I am apart of a committee that is trying to start a Shared Governance Program in a small 150 bed hospital. I am looking to find similar hospitals where they have implemented the Shared Governance concept. Our committee has been struggling with this monumental task and are in need of some direction.

We have read literature from Tim Porter-O'Grady and listened to one of his seminars, but I would like to hear from someone who has worked at a hospital similar to ours to see how it works for them.

our hospital is similiar size and we have shared gov. Each unit has it's own committee such as Ed. QM, Nurse Practice that meets monthly to discuss issues on the unit they way it should work is: QM discovers an issue and takes it either to NP for them to review the policy or write a policy and then Ed. dose the education of the staff.

There are Council meetings every other month where a rep from each committee on the unit attends and we discuss what the other units are doing.
