hi,

i have been curious about the starting salaries of lpn's and rn's at various hospitals, clinics, and ltc facilities in the chicagoland area. it's impossible to find this kind of information online or most people just don't know for sure. does anybody have information that they would like to share regarding new grad hourly wages?

Maybe about 18.00 in LTC facility and 16.00 in hospital they say hospital benefits are better but I don't think so and all depends on what area in Illinois.

hi,

i knew that a year ago, (about) that new grad rns started at advocate hospital at 21 an hour but with rapid increase, if it was to start at an advocate non-hospital facility i think it was 18 or 19.

however, if you look at any salary wizard out there you will see that the median for chicago area rns is in the los 60s. i have also heard that a brand new grad starting full time could expect an initial salary in the mid 40s yet, will most likely already make in teh 50s the first full year due to ot and so on.

good luck! i remained in school past my undergrad, which was not in nursing, to complete an rn and this is something i am very intersted to know too. trying to calculate my payments and so on with an actual income instead of loans and penny pinching! :) hopefully an rn salary will really help with paying back those student loans, (to put it most tongue in cheeck). the real reason to become a nurse has nothing to do with the student loans or moola, however, that does make it easier to justify to anyone at all why i want to work in such an intimate service position. i love it and find it very meaningful.
