I was enrolled in a part-time evening/weekend BSN program in the Spring of 2014. I had plans to graduate this December. However, last Fall while taking Med-Surg, I failed by 2 points. Since my school allows 2 failures before being put out the program, I was set to enrolled into Med-Surg again for this Fall semester. During the break, I found out I was pregnant with precious little one. I still planned on taking Med-Surg for this semester though because I thought I would be able to take the first exam and at least get through 3 clinicals before going on maternity leave. However, my baby had different plans and I ended up having her a week before the semester started. Due to my professor's urging because I had missed 2 exams and 3 clinical dates, I withdrew before I failed out of the class again.
Well, now the school said I would have to reapply to the program even though it is still unclear why they are making me since I only failed one class and I withdrew this time before the class could be counted as a withdrawal with failure. I am little upset because I feel like I have wasted money on a program that is trying to rebuild themselves.
At any rate, I am trying to decide if I should reapply to the same program again for the Spring 2018 admission date or should I look at the other schools in my state? The reason I applied to this program is due to the fact that I could work full-time and go to school. There are other top ranking schools but I am not sure I could work the hours I need to support two kids. What would you do?
I should also state that some of the schools I have been looking at include a couple of ASN schools and BSN (including Chamberlain) and this would be my second degree.

Before I made ANY decisions, I would get the exact reason from the school. You might be speaking with someone who isn't clear on this. I would kindly demand an explanation, as it appears your understanding of the policy conflicts with theirs. There might be some reason you can't withdraw from an already failing course, but I wouldn't know. :/. Have you asked for further, documented clarity?
I haven't been in this situation or remotely any like it, but that's what I would do first.
Congratulations on your baby!
