I'm new to home health, and wanted some pointers from btdt RNs.
I have a binder of information on Oasis C to look over, and it seems overwhelming, and like I'm learning a whole new language.
Any advice on anything Oasis related or about home health in general? I've worked acute care in the past, but this is completely different.
What would you have wanted to know when first starting in this area of nursing?

Take your time and read through the various Oasis. There are 3: Start of Care (also used for a patient who already has home health and is resumed after a hospital stay: Resumption of Care or ROC), Recertification (justifies continuation of home health and must be completed every 60 days), and Discharge Oasis (speaks for itself). One other very short Oasis is the Transfer Oasis, very simple and very short. Get familiar with what the Oasis' are about, then look at the stuff in your Oasis C binder. If you don't know what the Oasis is, you probably will be lost with the binder.
Feel free to ask any questions here. This is an awesome site with people who will give you great input.

The one thing nobody really tells you is that the OASIS is the bill your agency sends to the government for that patients care. How you answer the questions determines how much will be paid to your company.
