So, I am starting Nursing school in a couple months and I have been waiting for a year, but as the time gets closer and I read more and more Forums about school and how difficult it can be, i'm starting to get nervous and I am wondering if there is anybody out there who has gone through school that can give me some tips and studying tools for getting through school....I'm very excited but nervous at the same time for school...I know for sure nursing is something I want to do and can't wait for school, but I think going into it with some helpful hints from others who have gone through it, will make my first day more relaxed and not so scary...Thanks Much!!

Well, I'm going into my last semester for the LPN so maybe I can help you out a bit.
First let me say, that I really love nursing school. Yes it can be stessful at times, but the hardest thing for me is working full-time and school at the same time.
Anyway, I would advise you to stay on top of your readings and assignments. I'm not saying you have to read every assigned reading, but you do need to develop a knowledge base for each topic discussed in class. What I did was type the objectives before each class, doing this allowed me to focus on key topics while reading the text book. I also reviewed the powerpoints daily and compared the class notes to the readings in the text.
Next I would advise you to get in a study group. Being in a study group will allow you and others to clarify and breakdown difficult topics.
Clinical- arrive on time and be prepared mentally, physically, and emotionally. Get a Good nights rest, pack up your materials the night before, eat a good breakfast, and don't allow attiutudes from nurses to discourage you.
Nclex style questions- Buy a nclex book, and do the questions, this will prepare you well for exams.
Lastly, this forum is used for us to vent and sometimes people get free therapy here. Don't pay attention to how hard people say nursing school is. Everyone is different. I know people who breezed through the lpn program.
Good luck to you.
Thank you very much Nursing Student 19, that is very good information and helps me a lot.
You're welcome
