Starting a job in a doctor's office

Nurses Career Support

Published

I was wondering if anyone out there can give me advice on my upcoming career shift.

I've been an LPN for almost 12 years

I've been a nurse/Director of Wellness in a personal care home for almost 7 years. Prior to that I worked as a charge nurse in skilled nursing homes, and spent a few years working in home health.

Recently an opportunity to work in a local doctors office came up. I know all of the docs and nurses at this office, as I have dealt with them in my current job for the better part of a decade. I am tired of working weekends and holidays, and tired of the long hours that come with long term care. My job was stressful and starting to affect my health. Quite honestly I want to learn something new.

What should I expect? This position will be Monday through Friday, I will be working for a semi-retired MD and a nurse practitioner. I am excited but nervous.

Thanks!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

I guess each Office will have their own job description on what they want you to do
