start date

I am a new grad looking for a job, but I was curious to ask those who have gotten jobs (GN's or experienced nurses) how long the hiring process took? When I first started applying for jobs in the beginning of the summer I had my start date as ASAP. Since summers gone on and my job hunt as continued some personal things have come up that may push my initial desired start date back. So my questions include:

1. How long was your total hiring process? From interview to start day approximately?

2. In your experience, how flexible are start dates?

3. When is the best time to discuss the start date with the NM/hiring manager? During the initial interview or further into the hiring process if applicable?

I am very interested in starting my nursing career and it is a priority to me over these personal matters, but I am just wondering out of curiosity. Thanks!
