I'm about to start school to become a psych NP at hunter college and I applied to the nursecorps scholarship, which I'm worried I won't get as it's super competitive.
But I also saw this scholarship and I'm thinking if I don't get the nursecorps scholarship I'll go for this one! I wonder how competitive it is? Pay up to 250K in loans off but 6 year commitment? Not too bad! Would love to hear your experience and whether you get it or not!

Hey there! This is the first year for the STAR LRP. No idea how many applicants or anything! The 6 year commitment is nothing compared to my loans.. I have been at my current job for a while so I’m happy to continue! I hope I get it and I will keep you updated.
OK yes I would love to know!
I'm also interested to know - what sort of job do you have? do you have to work directly with substance use disorder or do mental health jobs qualify too? It's a little bit unclear in the scholarship description. Also, was it hard to find a job out of school in that specialty?
Also wondering, they say they pay up to 250K in loans - would all my loans be eligible? or only nursing school ones? Because I have federal loans for undergrad and a masters (non nursing). So I'm just wondering if those would qualify.
Thanks so much and good luck!!
Hey! I work in direct patient care in substance use disorder as a nurse practitioner. I had no issue finding this job- it’s a tough one but very rewarding! The Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program is for SUD, however, some clinics do both psychiatric care and SUD. There may be a role you can find that does both? Per the application, it seems like they cover loans for education that helped you get your SUD job: “Any loan for education or training for a substance use disorder treatment employment.” Happy to help. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Hi,
I've applied for this program.
Has anyone heard back yet?
Or gotten any information?
Hello! I have not heard back. I know a few people who have also applied and have not heard back either.
We should know by the end of the month!
Thank you!
