Wanted to create this so everyone applying for the August 2022 cohort for Stanford's New Grad RN residency program can stay up to date! :)

My unit said that they do rotating... so 2 months on days and 2 months on nights. That is for SURG div. 1.... she said after awhile if you want to pick one you can.... not sure if she meant after the new grad program or what. To me, this seems reasonable and fair. Hope that this is the case!
Personally I have worked both shifts... I do not have kids so I do not mind either. I do believe there is a 10-18% pay increase for nights and for weekends. Hope that helps!

May I ask what unit this is if you feel comfortable sharing?

Hear anything back yet? Nothing for me still.

Like someone else said, the unit I was offered for (C1/G2S observation) does rotating shifts or nights for new grads and then we will get to switch to our preference after a while (I’m also not sure exactly when). I read on the FAQs for the residency program that most of the units typically do rotating shifts. I have done both nights and days during my senior capstone/ preceptorship and nights were definitely a lot more chill, just kinda hard on the body. I did enjoy days more though just because it was much easier to keep up with my normal day-to-day routine. I think it would be okay either way though. It would just take some time to find what works and develop a routine!

Thank you for sharing! I think that is pretty reasonable too. I worked as a CNA on a unit where all the nurses were rotating, except it would be like 2 days 1 night in the same week. After a couple of years and depending on seniority, they could request for all days or nights.
