Nurses Residency

Hey everyone! Thought I'd start the thread in case we have questions or run into issues during the application process. Or to just keep each other sane as we await for news.

I had my interview for Surgical yesterday. Not feeling too confident about getting the second interview. I totally messed up on one of the questions. Everyone else in my group did great. They told us the earliest we would know about 2nd interview is today, in the evening (1/15). Does anyone know how many people they are accepting for Surgical. From the comment above it seems like theyre interviewing lots of people.

Any insight into types of questions they will be asking? Just wanting to better prepare myself for when I apply later this year.

it is all behavioral style questions - Google that and you'll get a bunch of examples ? I heavily recommend documenting specific examples from your clinical as you go through your program so you have past experiences ready to go for your answers if you get an interview ! be detailed and specific so you have a lot to pull from. they want to know how you've acted in the past.

Hi! Would you or anyone be able to share any tips about the initial application process such as if they require you to already have your BSN prior to application or if you need to have completed prior to the actual start date? Anything helps! thank you

Keep an eye on the new grad webpage since they’ll update the timeline for the next cohort. Not sure if you’ll need to have graduated (the application opened several months after I graduated so I can’t remember) but you do need to have your RN license by the first interview date. I also suggest following the Stanford careers facebook page since they usually have zoom sessions about the program and interview tips that were helpful.
