Staffing Med. USA

Published

So I've gotten a couple calls/emails from this agency (Staffing Medical USA). I responded to one of the emails & asked for a link to their website. I told them I'm still in the process of exploring agencies & would like to look over their job postings.

The recruiter responded with "we don't post job listings, they change so frequently. Just tell us the places you want to go & we'll keep an eye out. We don't want competitors knowing what we have and they don't really have the jobs they post anyway, they're just trying to attract nurses".

Okay.....is this shady? Or was this recruiter actually being more honest than most??

Thanks!

Amy :)

Short answer, some half truths related to self interest. I would move on. I tend to trust recruiters that share information, not those who will not. After all, they want to know everything about you down to your social security number and really, you don't want to do the work of signing up if they don't have the assignments you want.

Some agencies do indeed have real jobs posted on their sites, mostly large ones or smaller ones that have great digital infrastructure. Many agencies only have "representative jobs" if any posted on their site. The reason is that by the time they get you signed up, that job will likely be long gone. And to some extent they are protecting "proprietary" information. Even the agencies that really do post enough to figure out the name of the hospital or actually name it often require a log in process intended for employees. Sometimes you can sign up for access quickly though.

I haven't worked for Staffing Med or heard any reviews on them (which may be a good thing), but I personally like working with agenices that are detailed and transparent as possible. I may be biased because I've only worked with two in the last year and a half, but part of the reason is because everything was laid out, no secrets. I actually told one agency (who I won't say out of respect) to take me off their calling list because they wouldn't give me written information about a position they wanted to submit me to until I was about to sign the contract. Now, I know this is common, but there are too many agencies out there that will be more open and straight forward than to "tolerate" the ones that won't make those accomodations.

With that said I do agree that postings online can be deceiving. I have been submitted or found interest in jobs because they were listed on the site and they were filled (bummer). So I might give them a pass in that area, it just depends on everything else (benefits, recruiter, etc.)
