Just curious if anyone has transitioned into a staff development/education role in a facility you didn't work in previously. What are some of the challenges you faced?

I am currently in a BSN-MSN program at and would love to interview an educator for an assignment and just learn more about role in general.  Anyone interested in helping a motivated student?

Hi Rosequeen,

Since your most is a few months old now, I was wondering if you have made the change to a facility you haven't worked at previously. How did it go? What did you find most challenging? I am considering applying to a surgical services educator role in a facility I have not been employed at previously and just looking for some insight.

Thank you,

Yes, I made the change. It was a bit of a culture shock just because of how differently things are done. And the size! It's also a different EMR, so I have to learn it to teach it, which means unlearning a lot of things I know about what I'm used to.

RoseQueen,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am sure I will have so much to learn if I make the change. I am in the interviewing process, so we will see how things go! Thanks again!
