I am in my first quarter of nursing school & I had a quick question about the PSB test that your supposed to take before you can get into the LPN nursing program.
There are a few students at my school who have taken this test and failed. And supposedly if you fail this test, you have to change your major at this school. I am just a little confused about it. They are kinda pushing nursing students to go ahead and take it, but I think it may be just to kind of 'weed' students out of wanting to get in the nursing program. I've tried to talk to my advisor, but she hasnt got in contact with me yet.
My question is: Does anyone know what this test consists of? I don't want to fail this test, especially if I'm gonna have to change my major because of this. I didn't know if they're would be questions about things that I wasn't really knowledgable about yet. (medical terms, etc.)
I really want to be a nurse. I want to become an LPN and then an RN specializing on Pediatric Care.
Please someone help! Thanks :)

Not sure what this exam consists of, but I do believe that these exams definitely weed out students. Most nursing programs are highly competitive with few available seats. They have to do it somehow, much to our misfortune. Some go by GPA, others by the NLN...a similar type of exam. Consider looking on line for a book on the PSB exam and study from it. Good luck.

You can go to www.psbtests.com and they have sample tests for you to practice. Although I went to borders and bought a nursing entrance exam book by the advice of the counselor. I will be taking mine next Tuesday. From what I was told and reading so far it is Math, Academic Aptitude, Spelling, natural sciences, practical nursing situations and vocational adjustment plus essay! When you get to the site above, click on resources to get the samples! Good luck!!
