St. Louis area hospitals for RN training?

Published

I want to become an RN and I am unsure of the best way to go about it. I have heard before that in some hospitals, you can sign a contract to work for them for 18-24 months after graduation, and they will then pay for your training. I was wondering if anyone knows of any opportunities like that in the St. Louis area?

I have thought about going the CNA route and working my way up, but I am not sure how long I will be in the STL area, and I would like to avoid dragging this out for several years. I have spoke to STLCC but they have an 18 month-2 year waiting list. Does anyone have any other input or ideas for what I should do? I would ideally like to end up working in Labor and Delivery or at an OB office. Thanks in advance.

At St.Johns They're great with Tuition assistance. You become a TECH which you train with them for and pretty much everyone plans to be a RN,BSN or P.A. Which is really popular with most students and there are a few I know that are training for medical school. It's great because your already working in te facility you have have a lot of resposibility on some units especially if your lucky enough to get placed in the step down/ICU?critical care unit you learn so much, you chart your working with P.A's NP's Doctors and RN's most who have BSN cause it such a skilled level of Nursing. I believe they give you $10,000 for Nursing thats all the the RN degree cost at the community college like STLCC, but I would say go for UMSL and get your BSN, I am training for NP/CRNA I'll make great money in critical the whole time Im climbing the clinical ladder to be a CRNA and if I stay with St.Johns as a CRNA I will start at around $170,000 a year. Our NP's I know make around $90,000 or more.
