Nursing Students School Programs

Can anyone give me an insight on University of St. Francis in Joliet IL. program? Would you recommend it? Any info that anyone would like to share would really help!

Specializes in Pre-Nursing.

Excellent program. It's actually better than UIC BSN program. I live 2 hours away from St. Francis's BSN program, so that is not an option. I met with St. Francis a lot last Summer. Beautiful campus. Located in the suburbs. Ranked the third best BSN program in Illinois by Niche. In fact, Robert & Lurie's Hospital as well as Northwestern University hospital usually try to hire new grads from St. Francis. Also, 100% of the students receive job offers in their senior year at St Francis (according to their nursing advisor.) That goes to show the quality of their program. I toured the simulation lab center and it was absolutely amazing.

Their nursing campus is a 5 minutes drive away from their main campus, similar to UIC.

I'm starting at USF LCON in the fall of 2020. I'm a mom of six so I'm on the other end of most of the new students I'll meet, but looking forward to it. ? I loved the atmosphere at USF. It's a small university, which makes it feel very homey. I graduated many years ago from a mid-sized university, so USF definitely feels cozier and smaller. The sim lab is incredible and I love that everything is all within one building. They have a shuttle to take you from campus to campus, it takes literally 5 minutes. I won't need to be at the main campus for any classes since I'm strictly doing nursing classes, but I may venture over there just for a change of venue. Can't wait to start!

Yes I am, are you?

Yes! I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. I think maybe I saw you on the last group call.

Have you ordered books and scrubs yet?

I’m a mom of 3, so I’m spending these last few weeks to get organized.

You might have seen me, was it the call in April?

I haven't ordered books or scrubs yet, because I wasn't sure what scrubs to get. Do you know what we need? I'm going to start buying books soon though. What classes are you taking first semester?

I’m not sure about scrubs or other supplies needed. I thought someone would have reached out by now regarding supplies needed. I’m taking Pharmacology, Theology, Nursing informatics, Health assessment and Concepts of Prof Nursing. How about you? Do you plan on renting books or purchasing?

I am in the same classes (well Pharm MATH, not Pharmacology), but I don't have Theology because I graduated from Loyola University and they require 12 hours of theology so I filled that requirement.

I got an email saying we needed a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, scissors, etc., but no scrubs yet. Maybe they supply school-issued scrubs for SIM lab, and then we get others for clinical? I got another email with books required for Health Assessment and Concepts. I'll probably buy because I've heard some of those books are needed again; who knows? I wish there was a group somewhere on social media for incoming students, especially during these weird times.

Supposedly they're having an orientation on 8/20, but that's cutting it CLOSE.

Thanks for the information because I never received any emails. Do you mind telling me who sent the emails?
