1st army nurse assignment

Does anyone know for a fact, if as a new nurse, your first assignment can only be at one of the 9 major medical centers? My recruiter told me I could choose from any med centers or hospitals... just not the clinics.. I really want Ft Carson, Colorado, which my recruiter tells me is an option, but a friend who is at OBLC right now, told me it is not an option for your first year.. anyone know the truth?

i don't want to say that I know for a "fact", but that has been all I have been hearing for quite some time. I've met a few new army nurses and all of them were only able to choose from the large medical centers. My recruiter says the same thing. I even met a girl that got stationed somewhere that was not even on her list because for her 3 choices, she selected the community hospitals and she found out at the end that she couldn't go there as a new nurse. I would maybe check with some other people and I'm sure you'll get some good responses on here.

When are you planning on going in?

My application went to the board early this month and I should find out this week if I got in. I graduate next May, you?

i graduated in may and just comissioned yesterday.. im supposed to go to jthis an oblc.. thanks for your info :-)
