SSM DePaul - Info for a New Grad

Published

I have some questions about SSM DePaul Hospital

1) What is the pay for a new grad doing med-surg? Differential? Holiday pay?

2) Is there a sign on bonus? If yes, how much?

3) Is there tuition reimbursement?

4) What is the nurse-patient ratio?

5) Any other thoughts about De Paul?

Please let me know as I'm trying to decide where to apply & I have lots of students loans to pay back! I'm sure there are other people in the same boat and would appreciate any info.

Thanks! :balloons:

Hi there!

When I graduated last year, the starting pay for a new grad was $18.25/hr. They may offer you a little bit more with tech experience. If you work nights there's a 3.25/hr differential, weekends is an $2 also. The sign on bonus is $5000 paid over an 18 month period. Yes they do have tuition & loan repayment. Not sure abut the ratios on day shift, but I know that on nights it's 7 or 8 patients. I've worked @ DePaul for 2 years and overall it is a good place to work, the people are really friendly and helpful..at least on my floor anyway(tele). Hope this helps to answer your questions. Good luck in whatever you decide.

HI!

I just finished clinicals at SSM/St Marys in May. We had a meet 'n greet with all the head nurses and nurse recruiters. They told us they had just(that week)raised GN pay to $18.60 an hour, and it was to be effective in all SSM facilities. Hope that helps!
