sprains and fractures distinguishing

Hi, I cannot remember how to distinguish a broken ankle from a sprained ankle. can someone please help?

Thank you very much. Broken-cannot walk on it, referred pain, bumps and nodules

sprain-pain with wt. bearing, negative referred pain, onset of pain is sudden.
