Be aware that California will take a minimum of 2 years plus before you will be able to work there. I also do not recommend going for initial licensure there, as you will not be able to endorse over toanother state if you wish initially.

Which state do you hold a license in? This will also play a part....

Do you want a big city, or small city? Teaching hospital or not? Magnet hospital or not? Are you required to complete the set of Englsih exams? Have you applied for the Visa Screen Certificate yet?

How come it takes 2years to work in california.I cant understand that. Please clarify me.I passed Nclex-rn from california board of nursing.I would like to work in big ciites and it would be better if it is teaching hospital.I havent completed english test yet.

Because you have to go through the whole process of immigration, and the processing thru California is the slowest in the country. To give you a better idea of how long it will be, go to http://www.visapro.com and look at the times for each of the centers. If you are going to work in CA, then you need to go thru the California center, no way around it.

That is why it will be two years, and that means two years plus. From the time that a petition gets submitted for you.

If you were to go thru the Vermont Service Center, you are looking at about one year or so. But since you applied to California, you are stuck there as they will not permit you to endorse until you actually have received your hard license, and you won't get that until you have a SSN#.

Which country are you from? I suggest applying for Visa Screen as soon as possible to get that out of the way............it still will take about four months to receive the Certificate after you pass your English exams.
