Salaries can be higher in certain areas because the cost of living is much greater. Example, Bay Area of CA where the housing is litererally "thru the roof" in terms of costs.
Specialties normally do not pay anymore over another, the number of years of experience that you have can be factored into your pay...........
You can try looking at salary.com.
Salaries in NYC are also very high............. :) but so is cost of living.
Second major thing, is that you pick a specialty because it is something that you like, not because you think that it will pay you more.Needs in different areas come and go................
I was waiting for someone to say that.
I would find an area that I would like to specialize in. Otherwise my job wouldn't be enjoyable.
Thanks for the information. I'll take alook at salary.com.

Hi,
I've been looking around various websites to find out which state in the U.S pays the most, and thus far it's been California, which averages out to be $65,000 per year for R.N.
I've been told so many different stories about the pay in the U.S that it's vary hard to believe anyone. Here in Canada if you specialize (whichever field you like) the pay increase isn't that large.
Is there a website that offers information on specialization and wages in the U.S, or specifically, California?
I'm trying to determine what area of speciality would be worth looking into.
Thanks for any help!
