Hi!.. LVN here. So I come from home health peds experience as well as medical office peds. But i just got hired to work at elementary schools( on-call) with children in special education classrooms. I'll be working with one patient per school day at different schools. Most have Gtubes, Trachs, Vents. This is a whole new setting for me. Do any of you have any tips or insight on classroom nursing before I head in there next week?

I worked as a private duty nurse in such settings; I monitored the child's status and intervened when necessary, gave meds if ordered, and encouraged the child to fully participate in classroom activity and would be available if they needed a break, and any other ADLs required I performed; I got to know the staff in order to be cognizant of the child's goals and to make sure that along with my interventions it helped promote an acceptable atmosphere for the child.
