Hello everybody,
This is my first post here but I have been reading posts on this site for quite some time when searching for info. I have a question though. I am working on my pre-reqs to get into the BSN program through Channel Islands University. On the supplemental criteria pdf. it talks about Proficiency in a second language. Do they like to see you took Spanish in college or is it something you only get points for if you are fluent from your natural environment? I did not take Spanish in high school, but if it increases my chances I will do it at my community college. Does taking college Spanish increase chances of getting into the University? I didn't go straight to college out of high school so I am confused if Spanish is necessary or even looked at when getting into universities and nursing programs.
Thanks!

Really depends on the school. Call the school and find out. UCs require a second language (not necessarily Spanish), CSUs do not, but it sounds like you're looking at a private university, and their policies vary.
Usually, if they require proficiency in a second language, they mean you need to take it in college. Challenge yourself and consider taking something other than Spanish if you already speak it.
