Spanish for HealthCare Workers

Published

Hi All,

So, I took 2 years of Spanish in High School about 12 years ago, and I know enough Spanish to get by in a kitchen or vacation in Mexico, but by no means am I fluent. I need a filler class to get me up to 12 credits while in Nursing School. I was thinking about taking Spanish 117. Has anyone taken this class? How about online (you have audio cd's to listen to, and I have a long drive from Queen Creek). Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

I took Spanish 117 this semester through CGCC. It was a lot of work, but that could be because I haven't taken spanish in over 15 years and even then wasn't great at it. The whole class is taken online and we have to contact the Instructor once a week over the phone to practice. He has pretty limited office hours but I always managed to work it out. I think the 117 class at CGCC only starts in fall then the second half is 118 for spring. I'm not continuing on with 118 since our program at MCC starts on March 11th. Hope this helps and if you need a text book I have mine from this semester.

eljefe101,

Thanks for the info! Yay, MCC in March! I am taking Spa 117 through Rio, and hoping to get the majority of the work done prior to classes starting. I looked at their online book store and couldn't find a book listed. I am thinking that most the info will be on their online system and the cd's that their library sends you. Do you find that you now know more medical spanish? Was it worthwhile to take? Thanks!
