I'm excited to start the ADN program at Southwestern College this FALL!! I feel like I've been waiting forever. (2 years) I wanted to see if there were anyone else on this website that is starting this Fall as well :)
While I was on the waiting list at almost all the community colleges (City, Grossmont and Southwestern) I attempted nursing school at San Diego State. Needless to say that I wasn't close to getting in.. BOO! Due to the budget cuts, it made my chances getting in little to none. The SON told me that I would've gotten in if I applied a couple of years ago.. I was like "Thanks for telling me this, but that doesn't help me now". I was pretty disappointed.
I'm so glad I didn't bank all my luck at SDSU and I will start program this year!! YAY! Are there any others that feel my joy and are attending Southwestern College this FALL 2010?

Hi Congrats!
I was wondering if you were on the LVN to Rn step up waitlist or the reg waitlist? I was also wondering what number you were to get to 2yrs to get in. I'm number 59 on the step up waitlist and was told they only take 5-15 people per yr for that..if that's the case i won't get in there for another 5 yrs..
Thanks!
I was on the regular waitlist and I'm #69. They allow 60 people in the program each Fall. I talked with the office yesterday and they said they call up to 100 slots. Many of those will have gone to other programs. So that gives many of us a chance to get in.
I heard that the LVN to RN program was different. I can't imagine waiting another 2-3 years to get in. Good Luck to you and I hope that you won't have to wait that long... at least you have your LVN license to work. Do you work now?

Is this program accredited?
Oh yes! here's the link to SWC's accreditation page.

I hope that helps of your looking into this school.
Hi,
Ya I have been working as an LVN for over 2 years..I've dabbled in mental health, home health, and even home visits. So far I like mental health. I hope I get in..at this point anywhere..
Mental health is a good choice. I'm sure you'll get in soon.
What other schools are you applying for? If I didn't have a family, I would go out of state to go to school. From what I hear.... there are no waiting lists in many places.
Hi my fellow students. Are there any out there that received their acceptance letter for SWC Fall 2010?? Let me know :) I'm excited!

I will be applying to their program this summer. What is their acceptance process these days? Are they doing strictly wait list, or a points system like everywhere else now? I feel like I'll never get in to City College's program, so Southwestern is my only other hope...besides National, but damn they're expensive!!
