Hello lovely people, I’m moving to South Florida (Pompano Beach) in 2 weeks time and I was wondering if anyone has any experience in working over there and which hospitals do you recommend? I’m moving from the UK and I’m not familiar with the hospitals in this area.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards
Susana

Hi Susana,
Good luck with your big move! My family moved from the UK in 1994 and my mom who is an RN made the transition as well to nursing in America. I'm currently a nursing student but I've worked for a few years at our local hospital in various jobs. We live right next door to Pompano Beach so I hope something helps! Moving to a new area can be a lot. So basically, theres a couple big companies in the area who own the major hospitals. You have Tenet, Baptist Health, HCA, Cleveland Clinic. Most hospitals will be a drive from Pompano & the traffic in South Florida is great in the Summer, terrible in the Winter. Broward Health is probably your closest hospital system and they are tough. The turnover of nurses there is high. If you can go for a job at a Baptist hospital (Boca Regional), they staff very well and are one of the top companies to work for in the US. Tenet is 50/50. They are who I have the most experience with. The staffing is not great, corporate is all about the money, but some hospitals are better than others. I would steer clear of Delray medical which is known as Hell-ray. Again, this is subjective. You never know where you will find a niche or fall into the right position. Definitely shop around, every hospital is desperately hiring nurses right now so make it work for you. Good Luck!
