Sound like a Good Deal Or Bait and Switch!

Hey all-

Just got offered a 16 week assignment at a Kaiser in the pacific NW. The position requires 2 years of critical care. It is a non floor position on the phone. I have gotten them: references (3) took SEVEN on line tests, got immunization/titers, physical. Had to get a Washington RN license in addition to my Oregon one. Now I'm ready to go. Waiting for final phone interview.

While I live local I have an out of state address to use so money is...

41/hr. (Doesn't matter if I work days or evenings)

Regency Medical Insurance (recruiter says free)

One recruiter said $400 tax free stipend- Another recruiter said $1000 tax free stipend with local address. I'm not sure if they are aware they are saying different things or if one recruiter is figuring in calculations the other one hasn't.

Should the over 60 mile stipend be at least $1500 or more? I mean this is a travel contract.

My concerns: I was told "we'll pay for your physical if you can't find a doc to do it for free!" I was like, "Who does physicals for free?" So they sent me to a local Concentra and I was then told it would come out of my first check. Not a big deal but not cool. But didn't appreciate the bait and switch. NO more mention of the sign on bonus from their craigslist ad, either.

I told the recruiter (once the Kaiser people told me they liked my profile) that I wanted to talk money and get paid an out of state stipend and he said, "I'll work something up." I guess he's waiting for the final go ahead from Kaiser.

Can the expericend travelers give me some tips here? I guess we will talk money tomorrow afternoon- in your experiences what can I expect form the recruiters? Low balling? What's reasonable pay here?

Thanks guys-

Can't wait to report on how it goes.:yeah:

As far as money do what I do . If I get a "Quote" from a recruiter I tell them I want it included in my contract and have the account manager initial it

What dept will you be working? Ive been paid $36/HR & 1300/Month Perdiem in Portland OR. There is no such thing as "60 Mile radius"

You need to ask them what they would pay a 1099 contractor who pays their own housing. Use that figure as a baseline.

$36/HR & $1300/month Perdiem= $44/hr 1099 Contractor

Thanks CalDive and 79Tango- excellent advice.

Here's how it has broken down:

38/hr

1000 tax free stipend.

Recruiter says it comes to 44/hr.

Sound about right?

That sounds about right with a $1000/monthly perdiem.
