Hi everyone!! This is my very first post! I am currently a senior in high school and was accepted to ucdhsc but am actually considering going to a less expensive college in order to save money. I have billions of questions but I'll just stick to the important ones! First of all, what would be a good program or school? My goal is to eventually become an RN with a BSN. I have heard alot of different opinions about what schools are considered good schools and everything, but I have aslo heard that most places don't really "care" about which school you went to, but instead whether or not you can pass the exams. Also, do I have to get my bach. before I can start nursing school? I know that this might be a "silly" question, but after navigating tons of sites I am still not sure exactly what the path to becoming a nurse is. So please help!!?? I am really excited about becoming a nurse, it is all I have ever wanted to do! Thank you in advance for all your help!! :wink2:

Wow! Congrats on your acceptance.....that is quite an accomplishment for a H.S. student, given what it sounds like the competition is for that school!

As far as the financial part - sometimes (esp. for traditional college students right out of h.s.) you can get pretty generous financial aid packages which bring the cost down quite a bit. What kind of costs are you looking at and is this a state school? Have you applied for financial aid yet?

UNC in Greeley is known for pretty reasonable tuition - they have a BSN program that is competitive but you may have missed the deadline for applying this year.

The community colleges are the cheapest route, but then there is the infamous waitlist issue 2-3 years. It isn't much of a problem to finish up the BSN at a university once you have the RN.

Have you completed the prereqs? That would make a difference as well - if you have and have been accepted to a school then I would go for it! You are young and have alot of time to pay off the loans!
