Hi, I'm about to gradutate in december with an ADN. I'm still a little nervous about transitioning to the RN role. Does anyone have any tips that will help the ease the transition into a real nurse?? Also, does anyone know of hospitals that will hire new grads for their ER department?

Hello and congratulations on getting through nursing school!! I would recommend that you start calling hospitals to find out if they have new grad orientations to the ER. Some only start certain times of the year, but you need to find out their application requirements as soon as you can so you don't miss the deadline. Try calling the nurse recruiter directly.
Good luck to you.

Congratulations! I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. I know here some hospitals will hire new grads for ER. The best thing you can do is contact the hospital directly. Are the hospitals you have done clinicals at an option?

I would ask some local hospitals if you could shadow with an er nurse for a few days. It's alot different shadowing as a new grad versus being a student. Be upfront with the nurse recruiter with what you have in mind. Good luck!!
Thank you all for your advice, so far the places I have done clinicals dont hire new grads for ER, but you all gave me some ideas to go by. Do any of know if I decide to work for long-term care after graduation and a few months later I want to work for a hospital would I get complete orientation just like a new grad?
