I will be graduating with my ASN at the beginning of August this year. I'm hoping to take the NCLEX by Early-mid September. I have begun looking at job options, but not yet applied for anything. I'm hesitating because this is my second degree. I also have a Bachelors in General Studies; concentration in Exercise Science and ideally I would like to do something with both of those degrees like wellness RN. I really have NOT enjoyed my clinical time in the hospital with school and would ideally like to work in a doctors office, outpatient, etc. position. And I would prefer shorter shifts; ideally 8 hours/ 5 days a week, but I'd be open to 10 hours/4 days a week. I know I sound like a diva, but I just know how I work best and the type of environment I believe I will work best in. Obviously I will take a job that is in a hospital, 12 hour shifts, etc. if I don't have any other options and put everything I have into it. What job options do I have as a brand new RN? Am I reaching to far thinking I might be able to get into a doctors office, school nurse, something that is a slower pace of nursing? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
