I will be finished with lpn school in feb 2009. I am from ohio but looking to re-locate to Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida- after I graduate. Does anyone have any idea how much they pay new grads for either long term care, home health? I am leaning more to working in a nursing home for my first job and would like any suggestions for good ones to apply to. Also i do not know much about home health for nursing and not sure what to expect or what companys are good to work for. any suggestions/ input would be appreciated!!

I am an LPN in South Florida. The starting rate here is about $17 for new grads. Check to see if Heartland has any facilities there. Good cooperation. Good luck!
BYW, could someone help me. Thinking about moving to Columbus,Ohio and need to know if this is a smart move. Esp, Westerville, Ohio. I do not know the pay scale for a LPN 18 years and if any jobs avail. Appreciate your input.

It doesn't matter if the DON is the mother-in-law of a nurse that is using on the job, in particular stealing the meds from the facility/patient.
To protect yourself, don't be positive on a drug test.
To protect your patients, report a suspicion of drug use anonymously.
It could be MS that is missing next time, and the guilty party might flush a heplock with potassium, like a nurse I know did.
Sorry to be so brash about it, but no one is being done any service by covering up for anyone
under the influence giving patient care. That lady died, and she was being discharged that day.
