Well, I've been here all my life, as well as my parents and grandparents..and I have NEVER seen, either recently..or in the past, 'footage' of Klansmen on TV. AND I am from Polk county, I have heard of the ADL, and the other groups you mention, but not the JDL..perhaps that is what you were referring to. Auburndale is in Polk county, and the people that I have known there for decades are really nice, loving Christian, decent people..You make it sound like we are ALL walking around with swastika tattoos and hearts filled with hate, when NOTHING but the opposite is true. It is more than offensive, it is hurtful to me. I have many friends who are jewish..I am sorry you feel the way you do. It just seems rather odd to me that a multi-generational Floridian posts such things in the "Hate Florida" thread, when the multi-generational Floridian's I know have nothing but love and admiration for their home. And you know what, rather than hang around and wait for you or someone else to take another shot at this state, I am going to unsubscribe myself from this thread...and contact the admins and request my account be deleted. Before I do that, maybe you would find the following information helpful. You know..This post is just sickening. I can see folks bashing Florida, because people from other 'places' have been flocking here for decades, bring their filth and corruption with them, then blaming it on the people who have been here ALL their lives, living peacefully alongside people of all types of ethnic groups. So, it boils down to some 'claim' about the defunct KKK, and compounds of hateful people. Please leave Florida as fast as you can, if this is how you view the world..If what you do is spread this kind of belief system to others, you really should review your own motives. I makes me sad to think this is who is providing health care services to people here in this state. Take a real long close look at this picture, and point out the Floridians, if you can.

I worked as an OPS (seasonal) ranger for the Florida Dept. of Natural Resources for a few years..mainly, so I knew where the good fishing holes were.. and most of our 'perp' types were poachers and such..but the interaction is very similar.. Most of my male nurse friends are ex-military, ex-cops, and so on. We make great nurses. I had one friend who was a SF Marine, and got his cave-diving/rescue certification, and his BSN..Quite a character. He did have a little too much ladies man thing going on, though..if you know what I mean.

I guess he'd make a good scrub wench, too..

My grandfather had one of the first furniture stores in Brooksville. Spring Hill is a beautiful area, even to this day.. A few years ago, the ADA had a 10K Bike Rally, all through those hills up by St. Leo's..(do I have it right..?) THAT area is one of the prettiest areas of Florida. Fla. Ranked No. 10 in Education

Are you trying to pass the RN boards. and for what state ?? The NCLEX exam is based on Nat'l Council of State Boards of Nursing..as I guess you know...I was under the impression they forced you to take a certified refresher course, in your situation.. I passed my PN boards..which I am sure are way easier than RN boards. I had not practiced in several years, so I used Lippincott's study guide, and the Chicago Pharmacology Review. The CD rom included with both allowed me to be more portable, and also mimics the rate adaptive testing. I just did my best to memorize everything I could..and also got a nursing PDR to review. Also..your state board should provide you with a written results, so you can review your strong and weak areas ?? Regards..

Wow.. It's been a while since I've heard someone other than close friends and relatives refer to cow killers.. That and stinger nettles. Great post. When the refugees started their influx into Florida from Vietnam, my Dad was amazed at them begging him for the green ones, but being a typical southerner, he was glad to help them out..as long as they were not haughty..(very important to learn Southron to fit in..) I'm ex-military, and a whole bunch of other 'manly' stuff, and nursing is not only the toughest sport I have been involved with, some of the 'toughest' characters I have run into were nurses.. Oddly enough, I used to partner with another guy who was also ex-military..etc. etc.. and when we would 'fill in' for teams, he and I would really give great service to our patients..I guess I am saying that on the surface, it appeared he was quite the 'lady's man' (whereas I am Mr. Married..very happily, I might add) yet, I was quite pleased at his eagerness to really give that extra 'sweet touch' to our patients. It was kind of funny going cave diving and to our regular poker game, then tackling that pesky diaper.

In '93 I left a $15.05 + $2.00 diff Med-Surg LPN job (that I got as a GN ) for a $10.00 an hour job (with ALL the OT I wanted) for an EP doctor, and as a Cath lab float scrub. Sure, it was crazy, but I acquired very difficult to acquire experience, which enabled me to get my IV cert. and qualify to work in the units PRN (as much as I wanted), and also get some cath lab experience. My point is that sometimes the way to where you want to go is not exactly from A to B.

It doesn't matter if the DON is the mother-in-law of a nurse that is using on the job, in particular stealing the meds from the facility/patient. To protect yourself, don't be positive on a drug test. To protect your patients, report a suspicion of drug use anonymously. It could be MS that is missing next time, and the guilty party might flush a heplock with potassium, like a nurse I know did. Sorry to be so brash about it, but no one is being done any service by covering up for anyone under the influence giving patient care. That lady died, and she was being discharged that day.

I'm not sure where you are, but lately, it seems that road construction is ALL that is being built around here.. in Polk, we were the 6th or 7th fastest growing area in the country..(U.S.) when the boom was on, so now we have literally dozens of unfinished developments. Road construction seems to be at a fair pace, even still.. glad to see some of our property tax money doing something..
