Soon to be a grad nurse with an Important job seeking question

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi guys, I am new to the forum and would love a any advice.

I am going to be a new grad in May 08, and I will be moving to the Atlanta area as soon as I graduate. I am currently spending the next 3 weeks in Atlanta. I have been making a list of all of the hospitals that I am interested in but I need a bit of guidance.

How should I go about contacting these hospitals? Is it too early? what should I be asking, is it too early to be interviewing?

Do I need a resume already?

I have been working as an intern throughout school in an ER dept and would like to be hired in the ER after graduation.

I was thinking of making a few calls and sending Emails this week to HR's and recruiting offices, and basically saying...

"Hi my name is so and so and I will be a new grad nurse in may. I am moving to the area this summer and am interested in working in the ER. I have been working as a nurse intern in the ER for one year, and would like any information about your facility regarding employment opportunities for new grads. ...."

any help or advice would be HUGE!

any hospital preference in ATL?

Pay range for new grads?

thanks

That sounds almost perfect. Just toss in there that you're visiting the area and would like to visit potential employers in advance of your graduation. I'm sure they'd be happy to speak with you, and perhaps give you a tour of the ER.

I've never been to Atlanta so have no advice about the hospitals... but good luck! I'm sure you'll be able to visit several hospitals while you're there. ;)

Hi -- your plan sounds good to me. It's definitely to your advantage to start making contact earlier rather than later. Since I graduated last month, I've been in touch with at least 8 hospitals, but only 3 have actually contacted me back. The HR dept of the others said this is slow time of yr in nurse recruiting b/c of vacations etc, and that I should get a better response (or reply) once the new yr rolls around. (I can't comment on Atlanta hospitals because I'm not from the area though)

THanksfor the help. I already composed my little email and have sent it to 3 hospitals this morning and am already receiving replys

does any body have any hospital preference here in atlanta?
