Hello! I am going to be graduating from my LPN program in March 2010. I have been looking for an LPN - RN bridge. I was thinking about HACC in lebanon, but I keep hearing all these bad things about HACC. That they try to get you out of the program for stupid reasons. Their graduation rate overall is 17%!! Lancaster general is my 2nd choice only because its about an hour away from me.. Any suggestions? I have to work at least enough to have benefits, and I have a 2 year old child. I can only attend part time where ever I go. Should I do prereqs at hacc and transfer out? What all nursing programs accept HACC credits? Thanks in advance for your input! It's much appreciated!

There are better programs out there than HACC. They currently have more students lining up for this program than they know what to do with. This has lead to a focus on recruitment and not about retention. There is no help when you need it and you are correct, they will give you deficiencies for the dumbest things. There are many of us who wish we would have attended a four year college instead of wasting our time and money on this ASN program. Which by the way... Magnet status will make this degree obsolete in the next few years. Not only is this program hard, it is unrealistic. Quit your job and forget family obligations. The nursing world is moving toward scenario based education. HACC has adjusted its tests to reflect this however has not changed its teaching style to match. This has lead to a 90% + fail rate on recent exams. Have I mentione the total lack of organization and scheduling. Also keep in mind that you are expected to take classes over the summer regardless what you have heard about their full time program. Both N203 and N225. Look, In the end, it"s your choice. Yes it is cheaper than other colleges but only if they don't flunk you for failing to meet unrealistic goals and you have to return next semester.

Good luck

LGH has a pretty good program. Theres a 4 wk summer course and then you jump right into the 3rd semster with the regular ASN students. They ARE more expensive than HACC (about $590 a credit).

Id agree with the above poster though. HACC has more students than they know what to do with. Good Luck.

Did the LPN-RN bridge program at HACC. No problems. Graduated with 3.5 gpa. Passed NCLEX 1st time. But it is a tough program - has you very well prepared when you graduate...in some ways, more so than a 4 yr school. My credits have all transferred to my BSN program. I personally had no problems with instructors or feeling like anyone was "out to get me". But if you don't know your stuff or are unprepared...then you are in trouble. Just my :twocents:

OK, had a change of heart... the previous posting was the rantings of a disgruntled individual. All the information provided was accurate, however it may have been presented in a "not so nice manner." Hope you make a good choice and learn as much as you can. I hope you can avoid some of the pitfalls that plague academia and by all means... ask for clarification on anything you're not sure of. Don't rely on the textbook to explain it the way the instructor wants it presented.

Good luck, take care
