Some more questions about joining ANC

Hey,

So I have been doing a lot of research still about joining the ANC but a couple things would like to get clarified still.

1) How likely is it for an experienced nurse to get stationed at their first choice? If I wanted to go to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, what is the likelihood of getting positioned there? I am an Oncology/Med-Surg nurse, but I am not chemotherapy certified yet. Hopefully will begin that this spring.

2) Are pets allowed to go overseas? What is rules regarding pets

3) When should I begin applying for Active Duty if I plan to go in officially next June/July? (Have OBC completed and be sent to first duty station)

Thanks in advanced!

Start time is NOW. The process for nurses to enter any service seems to be equally frustrating and long. Ensure you see a nurse recruiter, as the guy at the storefront is not the recruiter for you.

Good luck.

hey,

so i have been doing a lot of research still about joining the anc but a couple things would like to get clarified still.

1) how likely is it for an experienced nurse to get stationed at their first choice? depends, when i returned to active duty in the summer i got my 2nd choice. if i wanted to go to landstuhl regional medical center in germany, what is the likelihood of getting positioned there? can happend, depends on if they have an opening. the earlier you get accepted by the accession board the better chance of getting your 1st choice. i am an oncology/med-surg nurse, but i am not chemotherapy certified yet. hopefully will begin that this spring.

2) are pets allowed to go overseas? what is rules regarding pets. yes they can, each country is different. in germany you can only have certain breads. ie labs, etc. you can not have pit bulls or breads simaliar to it.

3) when should i begin applying for active duty if i plan to go in officially next june/july? (have obc completed and be sent to first duty station) now, but from what has been in other post the anc has reached its goal for fy10 and they will not have another board until fy11. if that is the case you will want to get your packet started now so it will be ready for the 1st board once they meet again. even thou the fy 11 starts in october they could meet before then.

thanks in advanced!

good luck
