Solano Community College Fall 2024

Published

Hi, future nurses! Creating this post for those who applied to Solano Community College with a 2024 start date.

Has anyone heard anything yet? Previous community threads here talk about how you don't hear anything until February or possibly March, but that seems so far away.

Fingers crossed for all those who applied!

Note from allnurses Staff

To help all of those looking to get started at Solano, we've put together a bit more information about the program below.

Solano Community College Nursing Program

Solano Community College is based in Fairfield, California. The college offers a quality two-year ADN program with a most recent NCLEX pass rate of 87.18% in 2022/2023.

There are between 35-45 students taking the NCLEX exams in a given year, so you can expect roughly 50 students in your cohort as not all will continue the program through its entirety.

Nursing Program Tuition and Costs

The estimated total program costs are $8,000 to $8,500, or roughly $4,000 in annual tuition costs.

Nursing Application Deadlines

The deadline for acceptance into the fall nursing program, which starts in August each year, is September 1 – September 30. For this cohort, you should have already applied for entrance if you'd like to start in August 2024.

When we get our physical and titers done, what should we get written on our health assessment forms again?

If they don't fill out the forms that were provided by the school then you need to make sure your providers note says "no restrictions for activity or work.”

Has anyone been able to access that pathophysio course they talked about at orientation?

Has anybody came into a problem with my clinical exchange in regards to the health insurance portion? For some reason mine has a red thumbs down and won't allow me to upload a file whereas the SSN and DOB is green thumbs up and doesn't require a file. Is that just me?

I just typed my insurance name in the value and they accepted it.

I really wish we had our skills lab schedule!! It is very hard to ask for work accommodations when I don't know which afternoon I will be in skills lab.

Are we able to submit things on My Clinical Exchange as we go? I am afraid to hit submit when I'm still working on things.

I also wish we had the class and lab information so we can plan. I have kids and my husband has to adjust his work schedule.

Yes, it takes them about 3 business days to review though and you can't upload anything else until they review.

Thank you! I only have a couple of things left to do. But does anyone recall if we get mask fitting on our own or if they're providing it later? I can remember.

I am assuming the clinical site will have us fit tested.

@jennnn0403 --I see what you are talking about and mine is doing the same.

@Katie Caruso @lalawekesa--I wish they provided the concrete schedule as well. I can understand not knowing the clinical hours for everyone but this is a huge schedule change for us all (kids/work/daycare) and we need to plan!

Also, I'm not sure she specified about the fit testing but it seems like something they would provide. Still waiting on information about the background/drug screen so there is no way we can fully submit on My Clinical Exchange, right?  We can hit the submit button but it doesn't seem like everything will be 100% checked off?

@Serena Ramirez -- I received an email from Melissa Pegg today with instructions for the patho course.

I have everything with a green thumb except these items:

background check

drug screen

fit testing
