Software for Certification Monitoring

Published

Hi! I recently started a new position in the Education Department! ?

Part of this job is "straightening out" our hospital's way of record keeping - with the licenses and certifications- so that when Joint Commission comes, we aren't scrambling, trying to find paper copies of everyone's stuff. It would be nice if employees could keep up with their own dates, but we all know that will never happen!

Is anyone familiar with any type of software or anything that can help with this and has reminders? Otherwise, I'm looking at a REALLY big spreadsheet!!

Also- any great ideas for a new Education program would be great!!

Thanks!

Do you have an IT Department? I work for a large university medical center and our IT Department developed a separate Department of Nursing website where nurses (including APRN's) log-in to enter certifications. I believe this comes in handy not only for TJC but also when our Magnet review came up. As an Advanced Practice Provider, we are also part of the Medical Staff (as APP's) and our IT Department also has a separate website for NP's to log-in procedures, certifications (ACLS, DEA, national NP boards, etc) which comes in handy when our bi-annual review for re-credentialing occurs. Both websites automatically send email reminders to staff for when certifications are about to expire.
