I haven't had sociology or psychology in many years to give details, but you need to know how to effectively communicate with your patients. You need to have some understanding of different socioeconomic backrounds to be able to help most effectively. You need to have an idea about different psychological conditions to be able to identify possible red flags, etc.
I am a student and haven't started clinicals yet ( but start this semester- yay!) to be able to apply anything I have learned from a social standpoint, but I know it is important to have this sociology & psychology knowledge
