soc for patient room safety-rn responsibility

we are new to this site, would appreciate any suggestions of standards of care re; nursing responsibility in patient's room environment safety, ie: telephone placement for easy reach, bed rails, any online sites, books, articles, any help, thank you so much

Not sure what you are looking for, but I don't know of any policy per se for this. Its just something that as a nurse you are responsible for...making sure the environement is safe. In LTC, certain things would be careplanned. For example...in a care plan for falls and intervention would be: place call bell within reach, tv remote, phone in reach. Side rails up, down or what ever is ordered. Etc. See what I'm getting at? Also it is just a thing that you should do on rounds or whenever you enter a room. I guess it is just something I do subconsciensly(sp). Kinda like the "is the scene safe"
