is this a normal feeling? i'm ending my first year of nursing school and will be able to sit for my exam this summer but i plan to continue for my associates in nursing next year. right now, i am passing my courses and i feel like i remember things for testing purposes and low and behold, the next course resurfaces and it builds on the information from the previous class. i feel like i understand everything at the time of class, then when the test comes i feel like i'm missing something. i know there are tricks to the questions, and getting to the root of the question is the way to go, but sometimes i get so confused even though i know the content! after each test, even if i only get a few wrong i am disappointed in myself and feel like i will never remember this stuff for the nclex. i change my study techniques accordingly, but still it feels like i'm missing a huge part of something which i cannot put my finger on. next year the instructors say goes into more depth, but i already feel overloaded! how in the world will i keep my sanity until that point?

Hey There,
Yes, it is a normal feeling. I would be more worried about you if you didn't have concerns. Absorb as much as you can, tackle one thing at a time, and be contented with what you have accomplished. Though it is important to achieve the best grade possible, the fact of the matter is you will do well on some things and not so well on others. It is imperative you focus on the hurdle ahead and not on the one "behind" you. If you gave it the best you had, be happy and move on, remembering that test grades do NOT determine the type of nurse you will be!! Your true education begins at graduation, and your concern early on is an indicator to me that you will be just fine......
