So what's good about HH anyway?

Published

Hello,

I am interesting in starting a new career in HH - any advice? What do you love about it? What do you hate about it? How's the salary?

I have 20+ years of m/s experience. Do you think I will have any problems getting a job, not having any HH experience?

Thanks.

I love the flexibility and the pay, I don't love the HOURS of paper work or taking CALL, needless to say I am on my 14th year working in homecare with the same agency

Specializes in jack of all trades.

I recently went to HHC in Jan and never worked HHC before but have a strong clinical background in ICU/CCU/Burns/Dialysis. I took a CLM position and LOVE it!! It took me about 5-6 months to land the job I wanted and held out till I did and as long as my bank account would allow. It was well worth it. I was concerned about not having previous experience but I did have some case management background in worker's comp medical management that helped. My field nurses have been nothing but supportive and make it a point when an interesting case comes up to invite me out with them. But then again I lucked out with a phenomenal office with a director who makes visits herself frequently. If I need to go to a md appt or just get my haircut it's never an issue. I'm salaried of course but I make more than I did at my previous job with much less hours now and much less stress. Others have said a bad day in HHC is better than any day in a hospital - they were right!! Go for it!!
