Hey guys, just new to the site I've been doing some reading here and there and decided to give it a shot and ask you peeps with experience about my current situation. I started thinking of my Nursing Major after first switching thru graphic design, accounting, and business. I think this is it, I have all my pre-requisites for Miami Dade College and I'm ready to apply somewhere. I don;t think I can make it to MDC to be honest, my sciences are GREAT A/B's only however my GPA is 2.8 from 1 class I didn't pass (whcih I will retake if needed) and that's where I'm falling short. I've thought of Keiser and I have my doubts because of the accreditation, I know the program will be cheaper. My question is has anyone gone to Keiser or City College and have had issues transferring credit for their BSN elsewhere? This is something that s really important and my time is running out If I would like to start a program soon. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Hey! Where are you located? If you are located in the Tampa Bay Area, have you looked at Galen College of Nursing. There are accredited and I believe you can transfer to St. Pete College or The University of Tampa for your BSN. Galen is has the LPN and LPN to RN program, so you'll leave with your ADN. Just check them out on their website http://www.galencollege.edu . Hope this helps.

How close are you to Broward College (South Campus)? They go by your pre-req GPA for admission (English 1101, Chem, A&P1 and 2 and the labs). You can always try there, since you may be able to get by without that one class thats hurting you.
Definitely going to be applying there, what class are they taking for now? My program GPA is very good, thanks.
The application period for the May program just ended on January 15th. The next application period is for August, which is from March-May 15th. You do have to take a health careers core class (HCP0130 this is the class code at BC) before applying- the class must be complete before applying, not that you are just enrolled into it. There are waivers accepted if you have worked in health care related fields. Currently the classes are filled up at BC (they are only offered at the Central campus) but you can meet with an advisor to see if they can get you in as they are overbooked, so I know it is done. Also, you can take the class at Sheridan Technical school which is located in Hollywood. They have a face to face class and an online class. Apparently they offer if solely for the purpose of BC students. One online class is starting next week, but another round is starting in February. I'm not sure about the face to face classes. I would contact South campus health science dept. and just "verify" that they will accept it. This is what I am doing because the schedule of the HCP class is 4-10pm one day a week for 8 weeks and its basically impossible for my husband to be home in time for me to attend (I have kids).
Oh and I believe the class at Sheridan is called Medical Careers Core, or something like that.
