I am a newgrad and work for a private home health company that launched this year. I accepted this job only cause I was going to be payed 23/hr plus 4 more differential and get some benifits. After 6 months, I still have no benifits and the diffetential was never appied to my checks because of miscommunication in the office! I really need benifits and good pay cause I live in orange county, ca and support my family. Is there anyone that knows of a job that can do this for me? I tried hospitals, and snfs but they want experience. MDs want MAs and so Im looking into Hospice and waiting to hear back from the state. Should i work at starbucks part time?! Thanks for all your help.

The agencies I know of pay from $14 to $16, so can't help you there. Twenty three an hour is what an LVN should be making, and if you have a job that pays that much you should make an effort to make it work out. That is how I see it.

Do you mind either posting or PM-ing me the company that you work for? I'm a new grad still looking for work. Thanks....

Wow! $23 an hour! As bad as the market is right now for new grads that's the second most I've heard so far for a new grad in So. Cal. You'll be hard pressed to find something better for a new grad right now, you're already one of the lucky ones for even finding an lvn job. I know you mentioned hospitals, SNFs, and MD offices, but if you're looking for more money and better benefits than what you're getting now, those places definitely pay lower on average than $23, so you would probably need to stick with home health agencies and hospice. I know someone who was a new grad that gets $25/hr, but I think she had connections with the company before getting hired, and this is also in home health.

$23 is good money for a LVN I have 5 years xp as a LVN and have never made more than $19.

Truth is, if you look at your medical benifit costs, you will pay over $5,000 per year for insurance, (to change the subject). I question why anyone would pay that much for something they never use. On top of the $5k, you have a 1-2k deductable and co pays. If the doctor charges you $100 per visit you would have to go to the doctor 50+ times in one year just to break even. Pay cash, its much cheaper. File bankruptcy should you need more than $5k per year in medical

You mention that your company was newly launched. That might explain why your earning more than the market average for an lvn without experience. I recently resigned from a job assignment from my agency that was paying me $24 but the hell they put me through wasn't worth it.

If your job is acceptable I would stick where you are. I have found that the OC tends to pay LESS than LA not more. If your not making ends met then yes you might have to take another job since your not likely to be able to find much higher esp without experience.
