Smart thing to do?

Hello

I recently graduated from an accelerated program and got my RN license. I have been searching for new grad positions and have been applying to them but have not gotten any call backs. I have been going crazy sitting at home doing nothing. I came across a position at a hospital that is related to my previous degree in business accounting. Should I apply to this position (I also applied to a grad RN position a couple of months ago at this hospital) and if I do should I leave out all my nursing information (nursing school, gpa, RN license, etc) and just focus on my accounting background? And are there different people who look over nursing applications and other positions (business, hr, etc) because I am worried that someone will come across my previous application to the new grad RN position and will be like does she want to do accounting or nursing.

Thanks for the help

How long ago is "recently graduated"? It can take several months for new graduates to find a job in this market. It's not uncommon to have to apply to many, many positions and then accept a job in LTC or a SNF to get your foot in the door. There are so many new graduates and not enough open positions. If you really want to work as an RN, then you should not apply for a job in an unrelated field. You would have to stay in that position for at least a year, and then it's really hard to get an RN position if you haven't been employed for more than a year after graduating. It would be very unprofessional to apply for the job, accept it, and then leave a couple of months in if you got an RN offer.

So I'd suggest waiting longer for your search to turn up something. Make sure you are applying to a wide variety of positions and that you have a well-written cover letter and resume. Apply in person if possible and follow up on your online applications with phone calls to HR departments.

Thanks for your response Ashley.

I graduated in Dec and got licensed in Jan. I did not apply to the accounting position, I am going to keep applying to RN positions, follow up with HR, etc and I know I will get a position sooner or later!
