SJSU Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start a discussion for those who are planning to apply for SJSU's nursing program in the Spring of 2019. Please feel free to share here your GPA/TEAS and any questions or concerns regarding the application process. I hope we can get to know each other, I wish you all the best of luck! :)

yup im pretty stressed about this too. Just 2 more weeks.

What's your impaction score?

Lowest was 6.3 according to the Spring 2018 thread.

My impaction score is 6.77. The cut off keeps rising every year so it's just making me extra nervous!!

I think we all have a really good chance of getting in. :) It's just the waiting period that is making us all super anxious!! Did you guys apply anywhere else?

I applied to a few other state schools that were accepting transfers and USF. I'm really hoping for SJSU though because then I wouldn't have to commute or move.

That's awesome! Did they send out letters already?? I am kind of stuck since I only applied to SJSU. Did you take all the your prereqs. at SJSU?

I haven't gotten anything yet!! But I've been hearing from everyone that we should be getting the letters very soon. Is it your first time applying to SJSU? You could always try again for Fall 2019. I believe they're switching to a 2.5 year program by then, but the only downside is the competition with transfers //:

I took most of my pre-reqs at SJSU except for Physio and Micro. How about you?

This is my first time applying (: How about you??

Yes I heard about the 2.5 year program coming up. It's definitly going to be intense because everything will be crammed!

No I took all my prerequisites at Mission college and I transferred into this semester so I'm currently taking the 100W class and the area R and V classes.

This is also my first time applying! I took this semester off since I finished all my pre-reqs. I was planning on taking 100W and the area R and V classes, but I decided not to in case SJSU doesn't accept me and I would have to take the upper-div classes at another school. So I'm doing a CNA program this semester instead. Hope that 100W will be manageable with the other first-sem nursing courses if I'm in.

Has anyone checked their mySJSU portal? It has nursing listed as my program and a degree plan, I am even able to enroll in classes. I haven't received any official correspondence though stating I've been accepted.

Is anyone else in this boat??

No, mine still says Undeclared-Pre nursing. But my advisor has a hold on my account until i send her the acceptance email/letter or if she gets the list of who got into nursing. Only she can make changes on mySJSU portal :/

I'm able to enroll for classes too, but my major has not changed either (but that may be because I'm not pre-nursing). Fingers crossed this isn't just a glitch in the system!

Good luck everyone!

Ughhh! The waiting is killing me lol. Hopefully we hear something before Thanksgiving.

Yea my friend that is in the program right now had a hold on her account as well and her major didn't change to "nursing" until a few days after she sent her acceptance letter to the advisor. You guys got lucky to not have the AARS advising hold! :)

I'm pretty excited/nervous/anxious to just know already!

This is also my first time applying! I took this semester off since I finished all my pre-reqs. That's pretty awesome you are doing the CNA program! I am currently working as a CNA and it really gives you a lot experience on working with patients, nurses and doctors.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 100W. I am currently taking it with Naomi Williams and she is by far my favorite teacher. She understands people in her class are in their programs so she mainly focuses on this final research paper that is due at the end of the semester. So everything she assigns in the semester is beneficial to that final research paper(:
