SJRSC Fall 2011??

Anyone waiting for acceptance/rejection letter? How do you feel about it? I'm trying to pass the time here...

Yes, I'm waiting. I think the letter might go out next week, based on what they said in an informational session.

Well that will be a relief! Are you OP or P?

I applied to both, you?

I applied to Palatka. I've been wondering what the GPA should be to be accepted? I have a good HESI and pretty good points.

The new guidelines are 3.5 GPA to put you in category one. I think I was told that they have drawn from category two in the past as well. Hopefully letters will go out soon!

Toreo....do you know anyone in the program? Have you heard what it might be like?

I am also waiting for my letter. I have applied to both P and OP. I am hoping that will give me a little better chanc of being accepted. I am in catagory 1 if I did my calculations correctly. The GPA is our nursing pre-req GPA correct? Has anyone heard anything yet as to when they expect letters to be mailed? I am nervous and excited all at once! Good luck to everyone else!!!

I've talked to the girls in nursing right now several times around campus. a couple people did poorly on the "dosages" and had to leave the program. I think you have to get a certain score on all the tests to stay in the program. they've said it's a lot of hard work. Many of them had cat 1 GPAs, but I remember one girl who had a cat 2 GPA (good for me!) I really hope they look at the HESI and other points as well (not primarily based on GPA...)

From what I understand they look at your nursing pre-req GPA, HESI, and total points. In case of a "tie" as I understand it is whom ever turned in their completed application first. Do not quote me on this but this is what I understood from the nursing info session.

Yes, your pre-req GPA and HESI determine what category you are in. Then they rank by points within that category, then by application submission time if there is a tie. I think I'm in category 1 as well. From past groups, I've heard that everyone in Category 1 was accepted and they went into Category 2.

I think I heard that you must score a 90% on dosage calculation each semester, but you get 2 tries. If you don't pass, you leave the program....but you can join the next class if there is room (so I've heard). However, they are not hard problems....."your patient needs 1g Tylenol and you have 200mg tablets, how much does he get".....stuff like that at least initially.

I was told we should hear by the end of June, but I have not called the nursing office to confirm this. Please post if you call and get different information.

Yes, but what if GPA puts you in Cat 2, but HESI puts you in Cat 1?
