Hi, RNKLTYM. I'm currently in SIUE's program. I don't know how many alternates were selected for next fall's program. I do know one guy who's on the alternate list. Are you an alternate too?

I am #1 on the waiting list for Fall 2008. I believe there are 3 alternatives.

What are your guys' stats, if I may ask (years experience, GPA, etc)? This is one school that I will apply in a year or two.

I'm sure all of the alternates will get in. I know of at least 5 people who got in but turned it down because they got in somewhere "better". And those were the people who had 3.8's and above and yet applied to 5 programs and of course got into all of them, thereby screwing some other people over. Good for them, but that's kinda dumb.
And....... any updates? everybody get in that were on the waitlist?

No, it is NOT dumb.. it actually shows how badly they want into a program,, as for screwing someone else...get used to it.. this is NOT NP school.. no warm hugs.. its a meritocracy. If they have a higher GPA than other applicants... well tough,, they should have worked harder.
I got in and hope the best for all of you. Man, that 3-month wait was stressful. I start Statistics in May and start full coursework in Fall....entering the long dark tunnel of uncertainy, moving my whole family to Illinois (in Georgia currently) for the dream.
As for my stats, GPA 3.5, US veteran, class president. Work experience included telemetry for 1.5, CCU for 2 yrs, and CVICU for 2 yrs.

it's difficult not to take offense to your bitter post. some people like to have options to choose from. people don't apply to these schools just b/c they want to have a feel-good moment when the acceptance letters roll in (the application process is too expensive/time-consuming for that). we all hear how competitive these programs are so the goal is to apply to several schools so that when the dust settles, you have a few choices on where to attend school. and if you get accepted to most or all of these programs, one should feel honored rather than guilty that they snubbed another applicant. this field of study is cut-throat from the start...
