Hi Angela,
I had actually read about this and it sounds very interesting. It sounds so valuable and could be a great source for networking. Guess I'll have to come up with some money for the opportunity that sounds too good to miss.
Thanks so much.

Wow, thanks. Like soapy, I'll have to come up with some funds for this. Getting information from this will definitely help me get a feel for informatics.

EXPANDED WEB CAST OPTION FOR SINI 2005
If you or some of your colleagues can't attend SINI 05 in person, you can attend at your home or office! The web cast for this year is much more comprehensive, offering significantly more programming than in past years.
Keynote, plenary, and distinguished lectures will be Web Cast as well as a wide variety of concurrent sessions and the 2005 award-winning peer-reviewed paper presentations. You have the option to participate in the program live as well as view archived portions of the conference for two weeks following the Institute via the Internet. Web Cast presentations are identified in the brochure and on the Summer Institute Web site under the Schedule and Speakers section.
"We can fund only a few of our nurses to actually attend the Summer Institute each year, but in 2004, many more were also able to participate through the Web cast. When we 'compared notes,' we agreed that the selection of Web cast sessions was generous, of excellent quality, and very representative of the overall conference."
Full schedule, brochure, and on-line registration available now on the conference Web site: http://www.nursing.umaryland.edu/informatics.

Darn, I just found out I won't be able to make it this year. Would have loved to make the social hours and the exhibitions. Well, there's always next year if the Lord's willing. Hopefully, I'll be able to see some of the webcast.

Can you get CEUs through the web cast?

I've done the web cast for 2 years now. It is very useful. I've been able to get the CEUs, but I had to contact them directly to request them. They don't necessarily come automatic. If it is critical to get CEUs, I would suggest contacting them directly to determine if what their policy is for this year. They may not continue with this practice. One of the benefits is you can watch these presentations any time you want. Another benefit, it saves a lot of money and time that would be required if you traveled there. Disadvantages is there are sessions I would rather have heard, but not the ones on the web cast. Also, the tapes are available only for a limited time (I think 2 weeks). I'm planning to web cast again this year.
I contacted them and they wrote yes you can get CEUs for the webcast this year.
